“Life larger than death” (thoughts from Fr. Richard Rohr) For Jesus, human life is definitely a good, but merely a relative good. Only eternal life, the life of God, is the absolute good. Life larger than death is the goal, not the extending of my human life in this world at all costs. (Fr. Richard Rohr)
What the world needs is a message of letting go, not more holding on. The Gospel does not tell us to be heroic individuals, larger than life, as much as humble participants in God’s mystery, and therefore larger than death. Most of us will never have the back up structure, or media coverage, to be as heroic as a Pope. But I have met cancered mothers of small children who are just as heroic. God knows that.
